A Word From JK

I received a text message from JK herself and she told me the reason behind her notorious laugh. She says that she is just following directions on how to stay young. The tips she got from an SMS sent to her. Here's the message that JK is following as forwarded to me:
Do You Wish To Stay Young?
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight, and height.
2. Keep learning. Never let your brain idle. An idle mind is the devil's workshop.
3. Enjoy the simple things.
4. Laugh often, long and loud until you gasp for breath.
5. When tears happen, endure, grieve and move on.
6. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, music, plants, whatever.
7. Cherish your health. Smile, get up, and enjoy life.

Now we know why.

I Came Upon A Fork In The "Blog-Road"

I am at a dilemma. I don't know which topic i should write about. Should i write about the escapades of a certain Dennis the Baker? Should I try delving into the mystery of the "Pare Ko" Syndrome? Or should I write about the existence of a quasi-Johnny Bravo in our midst? Well, you can help me decide by voting in the poll. You can also leave a comment, or a short message in the cbox if you want to add another topic to the list.

p.s. boring topics will be rejected right off the bat

Thousanaires Once Again

I can smell the cash coming. As Yigae said, we all have accrued income. Ask her about it. I don't want to define. And so I can sense that it's going to be more than just batchoy today. The Batchoy Gang just may have to conquer some other place. Like the mall perhaps? Or some bar? Or to the ehhpott?

Whatever. I'm just fine with being a thousanaire again. If you don't know what a thousanaire is, ask Haring Tsinelas.

I really hate definitions.

Pwede Ko Ba? by The Gearbox

What’s up everyone? Are you guys having fun? I guess the last post presented by our very own BernAlie (Bernard & Rosalie) made history yesterday… It was the rise of Jesikka Kalaka! Ooh yeah, the half girl, half audio speaker (the large one)!

Anyway, moving on with our next entry, I’d like to share a music video (with lyrics, videoke style!) from an underground group of musicians called the Gearbox (sound like Sh*t eh?). There’s no interesting stuff to talk about regarding the band’s name because they pulled it off impromptu. The Gearbox is composed of three members, and there are no great stories to tell about these guys as well. I’ve heard the band lasted for only three weeks. LOL. Let’s all set aside the band’s history and proceed with the music video which was their first and last single hit in 2007.

In mid-August 2007, The Gearbox stunned the “private music industry” by bringing in their debut hit single entitled Pwede Ko Ba? The song was arranged, composed and recorded at Roderos Recording Studio (Olops’ rooftop) in EMsville, Albay. Words were provided by Mr. Lowma (The Bubble King pup!) and John Olops. The song was highly-inspired by Mr. Basilio’s lovelife struggles by the way…

Oh Crap! Wait a sec, how can i forget those valuable people who made this exceptional music video a success? I'm so sorry guys.

We would like to thank the following:

* Jeremy Cirjuales - Gearbox percussionist, back-up vocals, director and special effects master.

* Mr. JB Basilio - Back-up vocals, producer and scriptwriter.

* JK aka Jesikka Kalaka - cameraman, Gearbox groupie

* Nikki - cameragirl

...we also want to thank the EXTRAS and the Supporting Cast for their marvelous performance. Thank You so Much! Break a Neck!

To have a deeper and clearer understanding of the song, I present to you the (drum rolls please)…The Gearbox!

Laughter: the Ballad of the Notorious J. K.

Having nothing better to do, I decided to browse the Net for information about one of my favorite novelists, J. K. Rowling. After browsing through dozens of websites about the famous author of the Harry Potter series, I decided to have a little fun and started searching Google for famous personalities whose names begin with the letters “J” and “K”, and to my absolute surprise, there are quite a few, to wit: J. K. Simmons who gained popularity by playing the obsessively egotistical J. Jonah Jameson in all of the three Spiderman movies; J. K. Coltrain who is considered to be a legendary country music entertainer, singer and songwriter; J.K Amalou, a known director, producer and writer; and, J. K. Wisoff, an astronaut. Aside from famous personalities, there also is a J. K. Motel, a J. K. Comfort System, a J. K. Restaurant and hundreds more. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that in our little office we also have a J. K.

We were sipping wine and eating caviar (read: drinking beer and eating peanuts) in a very classy and quiet place (read: airport) when suddenly the still and quiet night was pierced by the thunderous and deafening laughter of one of our companions. The seconds seemed to drag on for hours as the dozens of people who were also there stared at us like we have just committed a heinous crime. To avoid further embarassment, me and my other companion just made like a turtle and hid our faces. In my mind I was shouting “Kill me! Kill me now!” They must have seen the look of terror in our faces because they were soon minding their own businesses after a while. I will never forget that evening, for it was then that I discovered that one of our dear friends is, in reality, the notorious Jessika Kalaka aka "Jeka or J. K.", who is wanted in the 7,107 islands of the Philippines for being the country’s “most noisy citizen”.

She was last seen sitting at her office desk, reading this very same article. She may be smiling, or worse, laughing her heart out. If you happen to witness her commit a crime, please go to the nearest blackboard and write her name in bold letters on the most noisy list. If you have any information as to her whereabouts do not hesitate to contact the authorities.

For an illustration of how dangerous J. K. is, please refer to the graph below.

Website For The Day

Upon returning from the two-day weekend, I discovered that one website suddenly became the most visited site. It has topped other sites like Google and Yahoo!.

I ranted about it. And I twitted about it.
You really wanna know what this website is?

Things That Matter

Sharing, this is what i'm doing right now. There are certain things that bring us happiness and sadness so they are things that matter.

Matter defined: anything that occupies space and has mass

*ding dong ding all things trivia*(pauso ni charlie)
The "watermarks" on the pics is one of the pauso of peachy, albeit hers is a gigantic version. I'm small, so my watermarks are also small. With that explained, ta ta!

P.S. OMG! I almost forgot! These pictures were taken with my uber high tech camphone. I'm still trying to figure out who I'm going to steal money from to buy a more uber, duper hightech camera like this...

Using this camera, I think I can capture some photos of stars a million lightyears away*chos*

The Chakiques...Sabado Night Live!

Hey, it’s the 30th day of the month, that only means one thing! The long wait is over…IT’S PAYDAY! Once again, we’ll be able to claim the title “Thousanaires” (according to Emil), way to go! Most of our cash will be spent for groceries; electric bills and other unsettled expenses as well as the unpaid meals from Tiya Fely’s carenderia. But that’s okay; it’s all part of being normal, hardworking and functioning individual. After every single one of these duties is resolved, I guess the only thing you should be concern about is Y-O-U. Oh yeah, treat yourself! You deserve it. Do a little shopping; indulge yourself with mouth-watering lunch or dinner…everything that will gratify you after working so hard for the past weeks.

Hanging out with your officemates and friends after a stressing week is necessary! Aha, that’s right. Nothing beats a gathering of close friends chilling out, talking nonsense stuffs, sharing secrets and laughing out loud over a bottle of brandy or a bucket of ice-cold beer! And don’t forget about those delectable appetizers…we need ‘em (Talk about tokwa’t baboy, sizzling sisig etc).

You can simply have your little assembly in your friend’s home turf (house party), if you prefer practicality or the cowboy style. But if you can’t decide where to spend your Saturday night with the gang, or if you’re looking for a cozy place with great food and soothing music, I know a “homely” place where we can all have fun! At D’ Chef’s House!

Although the owner is one of my closest friends since childhood, I’m not endorsing the place, really! Hmm…just a little! Anyway, D Chef’s House Restobar is situated in Albay, alongside the Capitol building. The structure was once called as the Albay Bistro, then after a few years, The Champion’s Bar management took over the place.

From Wednesday to Saturday nights, the restobar features fresh and talented local bands that cater to both young generations and oldies. One of the main attractions is the group called Chakiques. Uhum! (I believe! LOL).

SHORT HISTORY (ting-dong-ding! all things trivia)

The band’s name, Chakiques, originally came from the “rootnames” Chayee or Charlie and Kikz or Kiko. The two started out as an acoustic duo in Green Leaf Resto back in their wonder years. However, Kikz was determined to follow his dream to be a great culinary master, so he left Albay and studied at a prestigious culinary school in Manila. On the other hand, Chayee continued to spread the melody by joining other bands as “sessionista”. After a couple of months, Chayee turned his back from music and got himself a real job. However, the passion still scampers on Chayee’s veins, and eventually made him realize that music will always be a part of him no matter what. Whew! (don’t worry, the drama will be over soon).

And as a result, he invigorated what they have started! He formed the new Chakiques by searching new talents. First, he discovered a percussionist/drummer named Jeremy who was then his officemate... the wicked guitarists followed. Actually, there were two sets of guitarists (Benson and Gino) and a substitute percussionist (Agie, thanks dude)…and the rebirth of the Chakiques finally arrived!

Wow…so much for history 101, you’ll catch the Chakiques live at D Chef’s House Restobar every Saturday night, starting from 8 thirty onwards.

P:.S: su mga sawa na sa boses ko (mostly my friends), continue supporting the band. Love You Guys!hehe.

Here’s a sample from the Chakiques performing live at D Chef’s. Check this out!

Attack of the Killer Cooking Oil!

What is it with the aroma of sautéed garlic, onion and pork that it makes a level-minded person want to put on a helmet and arm himself with a mesh food cover? Well, if you want to know you gotta get into the mind of someone like Ogie (Ogie is short for Ogre, btw). Ogie is the newest addition (ish!) to the group, albeit he has already been with us a long time. Would you like to harbor a guess as to who Ogie is? Here is a clue – his first name starts with a C and ends with an E. Not much of a clue, eh? Well, it might be hard to guess so just ask CharliE for more information. And mind you, he still does not have a single drop of alcohol in him. Maybe it is the pressure of cooking for his friends who are connoisseurs in the art of “food-tasting” (if indeed there is such an art), or maybe, just maybe, he is just one of those people who believe that Roswell is not fiction and that the alien cooking oil is out to get him. Better safe than sorry, I always say. We’ll never know, won’t we? All I know is that his adobo, err I meant the tokwa’t baboy dish that he cooked for us was very palatable. So, here is a tip… don’t mind the cook… let him do what he wants in the kitchen (although you might be hard pressed not to comment because of how weird he is in the kitchen) and just eat what he serves. And, Oh! By the way, he has his own amazing fergalicious move – the climb-up-the-stepladder-using-both-the-hands-and-the-feet-like-a-lion-on-the-prowl-with-eyes-closed-and-with-a-wee-bit-of-saliva-dripping-from-the-chin fergalicious move. It’s definitely one of a kind. Unfortunately enough, we weren’t able to get it on film. Probably you can ask him to do it the next time there is an occasion. And oh yeah! He is one cool and funny guy. You will want him around every time there is a party.

p.s. I would like to personally thank atomicgirl for the huge watermark she permanently placed on the picture (tsk tsk tsk!), and watch out for my next post. Next on the "hit" list is JK.

Fergalicious II

To make things a wee bit clearer for you...

This is Powder. His name is Powder, not because he is like a powder, but because his master loves powder. Coffeemate powder, baby powder, red horse powder, matador powder, san mig light powder, and san mig strong ice powder. In short, all powders. Now you might be wondering right at this very minute, "wtf does Powder have to do with Fergalicious?!" Duh! The answer is so simple, right my-duh?! In case you are stupid enough to figure it out, Powder's master is one of the top contenders for the best in fergalicious move! Get it now?! Duh!

I am not good at doing the move, but this is one helluva FERGALICIOUS MOVE!

CHOS!

Fergalicious

I could explain to you why we call this move the Fergalicious but I don't want to. Let all other contributors to this blog do the explaining. Haha. But anyway, I do know that this is one of the culminating activities after a long night of partying or drinking.

You know what the Fergalicious move looks like?

We'll post more Fergalicious moves later on.

Between The Legs

Basketball…probably the world’s most exciting game (Soccer fans, I’m so sorry)! Talk about monster slam dunks, alley-oops, dazzling dishes and three-point bombs. The National Basketball Association is the venue for talented players from across the world and this is where amazing things happen (according to their latest ad-campaign this year). But today, we ain’t gonna talk about the league. Instead, we’ll try to look for some interesting things that takes place outside the basketball court.

So much for the love of the game, let’s get down to Daraga Albay…specifically in a campus formerly known as BUCAS. A sports event was held in this particular place last year and it started with a ground-breaking cheering competition to launch the festivities. And the much awaited basketball exhibition game followed. The Black Dogs versus The Tough Guys Wear Pink! The opening tip-off was nerve-pounding! Both teams were good. They were exchanging shots from the perimeter and inside the paint, three point shots and blocks in the opening minutes of the game.

Okay, let’s get down to the real deal… (The Black Dogs won the game anyway!). Our very observant photographer (Pauline Rose) had been taking great shots from the game. And as she was getting an angle from below to get a poster shot of Bernard, she saw something very interesting… And here it is…

Jovellar Adventure

June 17, 2007, a bunch of adventurous, good-looking, exceptionally-talented, good-hearted, healthy-lifestyle-leading, GOD-fearing, Marlboro Lights-smoking (well, some of them at least) (or most of them) (is it really possible two use three of these () consecutively?) young professionals discovered a haven of lush green forests in Jovellar, situated at the Third District of Albay, Philippines.

The town boasts of marvelous waterfalls and breathtaking sights. The happy-go-lucky group headed by Chayee (born in Jovellar) along with another local resident named Mich, led the group going to their destination…The Quitinday Falls!

This magnificent sanctuary is composed of five spectacular falls. After a back-breaking hike, the group decided to stay at the fifth falls so that they can rest for the meantime and munch their luscious lunch (chicken Adobo, Bicol Express, spaghetti, grilled fish and steamed rice). Yummy! They also brought Matador brandy to give chills to the adventure and some softdrinks to cool down their dry throat.

After finishing the last piece of chicken wings on their plates, the group decided to go against the cold and powerful current. It’s Swimming Time! Equipped with their swimming skills, a few of them courageously swam towards the falls. Unfortunately for those who don’t have any idea on how to paddle their way across the water, they were required to use a floating device. But it was fun…

Until next time guys... Dios Mabalos.. ;)) Peach Rules!! \m/
